Dolapo Kukoyi is a partner at Detail Commercial Solicitors and leads the firm’s Power practice.
She is recognized as one of the leading lawyers in Nigeria’s Power sector having worked for government agencies, regulators and privet parties on various Power transactions. Her transactional experience includes advising the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission on the 213 billion Naira Intervention Fund for the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry and advising clients on the privatization of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria and National Integrated Power Project assets in the Nigerian Power sector.
Dolapo also played an active role as a member of a core negotiating team nominated by the Disco Roundtable (a pressure group created by investors in the privatized Distribution Companies) to negotiate with the Nigerian Government and Regulators on issues common to the Distribution Companies.
Yesufu Longe Alonge has several work experience both in the private and public sector. Apart from being an Engineer, he has a good understanding of technical and commercial synergy of decision making that has contributed tremendously to his work successes over the years.
Longe has performed a variety of roles with increasing seniorities in the power sector from hands on Turbine assets maintenance and optimization, technical and commercial due diligence, operational and technical management, Business development and contract negotiations and management. His last place of work in the private sector was in AES Nigeria Barge Operations Limited, the first privately owned independent Power plant in Nigeria with a 290MW capacity and over $65M annual revenue, where he worked for over thirteen years and rose to the position of Director to lead the Commercial, Technical and Operation aspect of the business. He has also attended different leadership training that includes AES Emerging Leaders Program at the University of Virginia Business School, Darden, USA.
In his present capacity at the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading PLC (NBET), Longe heads the Power Procurement and Power Contract team, where he leads in different Power Purchase negotiations (Gas, Coal and renewables) and other financial related enhancing agreements such as the Put Call Options Agreement (PCOA), Partial Risk Guarantee (PRG). He is also shouldered with the responsibility of ensuring proper management of all electricity contracts entered between NBET and its counterparties such as Independent Power Producers (IPP) and Distribution companies. He was the Chief Negotiator in charge of Commercial and technical on the Government side (NBET) for the over $800M Azura Edo IPP 459MW Power plant about to get to Financial close. His Commercial abilities are also evidence in his leading roles in ensuring Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) Tariff related negotiations and necessary guarantees instruments are properly balanced with the right incentives to parties involved.
Abiodun had is undergraduate studies at the University of Ilorin, where he graduated with a BSc in Statistics in 2000. He was employed as a graduate trainee in Guaranty Trust Bank in 2003, where he worked in Oil & Gas in various capacities in the upstream and downstream sectors including Head, Downstream marketing, over 7 years. Abiodun joined Stanbic IBTC in 2010 after 7 years in GTBank, served in the Transactional Products & Services (TPS) team as Sector Head, Oil, Gas & Telecoms Corporates from where he joined Power & Infrastructure team in January 2011.
He played key roles in developing the bank’s strategy for the Power Sector in 2012 and in securing mandates in excess of $200 million in 2013 for acquisition finance of PHCN as well as the bank’s bid and success in the tender for Settlement Bank for NBET in 2014.
He has worked closely with government stakeholders in the Power sector, i.e. NERC, TCN and NBET. His key deals in the Power Sector include $138mn Abuja Disco acquisition, $129mn Benin Disco acquisition, $1.2bn/year NBET Settlement Bank and $900mn Azura IPP.
Mr. Folayan is an infrastructure advisory specialist with 20 years of experience in infrastructure advisory, development and finance coupled with extensive project management experience. A team player committed to supporting overall objectives, he has a track record of assisting owners and managers of infrastructure in improving operational efficiency and delivering on infrastructure project goals and objectives. Mr. Folayan has worked and developing relationships/partnerships with clients, government officials, engineers, planners, stakeholders and bankers/financiers, including bilateral and multilateral agencies, to deliver infrastructure projects.
Mr. Folayan’s portfolio of projects include transaction advisory and project management for the development, operations and maintenance of the 28 Km Blue Line Light Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) system develop by the Lagos State Government.(Nigeria); and transaction advisory and project coordination for the privatization and asset sale/transfer of generation, transmission, distribution and gas transport infrastructure developed by the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) under the National Integrated Power Project (NIPP). He has successful completed projects in Nigeria, Ghana, USA, Mexico, Zambia, Bahamas, and Aruba.
